Someone posted on this last week on one of our other discussions. I think it's a great idea - their "catch phrase" is "bringing together dumpers and finders of useful items"
At the moment it seems to cover a few sections of the UK, so have a look and see if there is anyhting of interest to you - or it might be a good way of passing something along.

Hi,
The idea behind www.usefulgarbage.com is to appeal to avid recyclers + people who want to do their bit but aren't the type to stack newspapers or take cans to a drop-off point!
Therefore, we have made it easy, fun and free to use. Anybody can visit the site and 'dump' whatever they want for other people to 'find' and take off their hands.
People can dump and find anything from books, fridges, TV's, tables, chairs, cars, beds, outgrown baby & kids wear, domestic appliances and more.
In the near future, we will be supporting the Walk Once More charity in order to help raise awareness and money for people suffering from chronic spinal cord injury.
Best Wishes,
Nicholas

We've have just recently launched and have focussed more on creating an awareness of UsefulGarbage.com rather than take an agressive stance to drive traffic.
Over time we will see many thousands of items, come and go on the site, but I believe the key to success is in keeping every single person, business & charity that registers with us for a very long time to come.
Meanwhile, feel free to check out some of our merchandise this Christmas by visiting www.useful.spreadshirt.net
All the best,
Nicholas

Thanks for the feedback. I recently wrote a letter the Camden News Journal about the lack of recycling facilities in London and would like to have some feedback on what everyone thinks about this...
Do you think London needs more recycling facilities?
a) yes
b) no
c) are there any at all
Thank you,
Nicholas

I most definitely think that London needs more recycling facilities. I'm not a resident in London, so I'm not familiar with what's provided if you live there, but I think that the shopping areas / tourist areas should have a much higher number of recycling points for paper, plastic and cans. The few recycling bins that I see in Tottenham Court Road are just about always full, which indicates that people want to recycle and with the advent of the extra free papers being dished out everywhere (plus job papers and other leaflets) I really think that there should be as many paper recycling bins as rubbish bins, if not more.
