This is a good thing because now I can finally afford to eat right. I am sure hopefully that Wal-Mart will have lower prices on its organic foods than other stores. I would sure hope so. I do most of my shopping, including grocery shopping at Wal-Mart.

Did you know they already sell frozen veggie burgers in their supermarket? In fact, they have ever since they started building Wal-Mart Supercenters. They usually sell this for an American dollar cheaper than other foods. I am sorry I do not know how much an American dollar is in UK pounds, but all I can say is the savings is great!

I hope that their savings on organic foods, especially meats and eggs, is much more than at other local stores that I know of in my area!

depending on the UK store they have a reasonable range of veggie and organic at reasonable prices too. I find it frustrating though that the 2 closest to me are dso poor. I only know they can be good because of the one near my mum. Having said that I suppose they have to stock what they can sell and Dartford isn't exactly the most "alternative" of areas..... I still can't work out why Waitrose opened here, but I'm not complaining as it's great for us.

How do you think this will affect stores like Whole Foods Market? Do you think their customer base will be eroded?

I'm not sure about Whole Foods Market as there aren't that many of them in the UK, but it does bring back that whole local vs. out of town question again, I think.

Most ASDA stores I know of are out of town and only accessible by car, whereas most places like Whole Foods Market and Out of this World are in the High Street. So, for the big weekly shop ASDA and Wal-mart are probably going to see the benefit of this, but for local shopping, I don't see that heath food shops like the Whole Foods Market will be affected.
