An interesting article from the Portsmouth goalkeeper David James, about wind turbines outside the relatively new Manchester City stadium (otherwise known as the Temple of Doom, ahem...). He points out that the amount of travelling and waste generated by fans and clubs has pretty much gone unoticed in this country, possibly because it's such an unreconstructed male territory.

However, one section did catch my eye:

"In continental Europe they are, of course, miles ahead. In Germany, match tickets double up as rail, tram or bus tickets to encourage public transport use. Even the odd club over here, like Brighton, have taken the scheme on."

So, full marks to Brighton - wouldn't it be great if every Premiership football ticket over here doubled up as a train or tube ticket too?
