Christmas is a perfect time for us to become creative and resourceful. There are many ways to lessen our trash at home. We will try to celebrate this Chritmas without spending money for lanterns and gifts. It's our tradition to make a Christmas tree at home. Instead of cutting new tree, you can use the old Chritmas tree. You just need to decorate it again. We can also make lanterns by using old gift wrappers. You can also make a little stars and mini deco using biscuit and candy wrappers. You can wrap your gifts using newspapers and old magazines. It's simple and easy way. If you want to save money and effort this Christmas, then try making this stuffs. It will develop your creativity. You can make people happy. And you can avoid too much trash at home.

You're absolutely right, the amount of waste generated at Christmas is horrific. So mnay people seem to be completely oblivious to it all, yet bins are stacked high and overflowing. Try to make gifts and decorations - you'll save on lots of packaging that way and people really do appreciate them more. In fact, why not give home made decorations as gifts - I know it was something I did a lot as a child. I can remember sitting at the dining table surrounded in paper (including cut up magazines and catalogues), glitter, glue, tinsel and foil. LOts of bits that we could find around the house including toilet and kitchen roll tubes to make pencil holders and napkin rings and on went the list. In fact, why don't we try to gather ideas for what you can do at home, what you can make for Christmas and how you can save on rubbish. After all, we're a family site, so it would be perfect. Jane
