These classes are designed to increase awareness of your pregnant body, your baby growing within you and unravel some of the mysteries surrounding birth. You may have a clear idea of how you want to give birth or you may feel undecided. My approach is to help you develop confidence and trust in your body and the process of birth and be an active participant in the birth of your baby however the events of birth unfold.
My birth preparation classes include:
* Yoga based exercises. These gentle postures help to stretch and strengthen your body, relieve discomforts and improve body awareness. Some of the postures are also helpful to adopt during labour. No previous yoga experience needed.
* Breathwork. Developing awareness of the breath helps you work with your body and the energy of contractions during labour and birth. It is also great for general well being.
* Pain coping practices for labour.
* Relaxation to help you focus on your baby and reduce anxiety and tension.
* Information on pregnancy, birth and early parenting. Weekly topics include optimal foetal positioning (how to encourage baby into the best position for birth); birth hormones; birth environment; what you may expect during labour; use of movement and gravity in birth, how the body is designed to labour and birth; birthing the placenta bonding, breastfeeding, and your newborn baby. (If there are other topics you wish to look at let me know and I will try to include them).
Organic tea and cake are served at the end of each class and there is time to ask questions and socialise.
Weekly class in Ringwood, Thursday evenings 7 - 9pm
Six week courses in Salisbury and Bournemouth
