Submissions for the Independent Games Festival are now open. Of interest is the new ‘Web Browser Game’ category:

These games must run in both the latest versions of Internet Explorer and Firefox, may use the latest versions of the Flash, Java, Shockwave and Virtools plug-ins if desired, and will be additionally eligible for the ‘Best Web Game’ category.

Which sounds pretty straightforward. There may well be some stiff competition in that category but I’m pleased that it’s been established. Flash and, more interestingly, the advent of Flash 8 looks set to bring about a speedier game platform with a fair bit more eye-candy.
