Time vs. Effort
June 11th, 2004, By Duncan Gough
Game development and zeitgeist aren’t great companions. Games that feature locations are fine, but games that feature events or fads are ulitmately faddish.
But, in this country especially, the appeal of sporting events like the Rugby World Cup last year and Euro 2004 this year are opportunities that are difficult to resist.
For us, the solution is pretty simple – flash games are simple games at heart, so a simple Euro 2004 themed flash game isn’t a risk, isn’t a massive investment of valuable time.
Euro 2004 wordsearch is just a bit of cliched fun. It’s easy for us to create and it doesn’t hurt the development of other projects. For a wordsearch game to make it into our Top Ten Games list shows that it’s a pretty simle Time vs. Effort decision in the end. Just because it’s a game, just because it’s fun does not mean that standard business decision don’t apply.
