Pets Corner is a great place to take the little ones. Here are some pictures and a bit of blurb from the newcastle.go.uk website.

Pets corner is a wonderful place.... there are lots of birds, pigs, sometimes sheep and donkeys amongst other animals.... Very impressive peacocks. It's great. I took my little boy there earlier in the year and he loved it - found the peacock a bit daunting when it had it's tail up (not really surprising as it was so much bigger than him)
It's just about always busy with kids feeding the animals with the feed they sell there. Well worth a visit (and one of the few free things around!)
It's set in the grounds of Jesmond Dene, which is a lovely "garden" (well, that's what it was originally) in the middle of the city running along the Ouseburn
