Probably one of the most popular places in Newcastle to go on a Sunday for a stroll in the "country" without leaving the city. It's wonderful - some of it is really busy, but off the beaten track you'd forget you were in the city. WIth the stream, waterfalls and stepping stones, an old mill..... Lord Armstrong knew what he was doing when he set this up. As with Cragside it's amazing "natural" landscaping.

There is the craft fair on Sunday mornings as well with local artisans selling their goods - pottery, paintings, leather goods.... well worth a look (over the years I've taken lots of people there and bought lots when I've been visiting people abroad so that I could take a bit of the North East over for them).

I really miss having the place on the doorstep. (And don't forget Pet's Corner is there) Reply to this

A great thing in Jesmond Dene is the art and craft fair on a Sunday morning - every week, local artists gather on the bridge to sell their wares. A great place to visit if you've got people new to the area with you - you can do lots of "memory" shopping. I was there today and there are people there who were there 25 years ago! OK, lots are new, but still some familiar faces.
