This is a nice site explaining how to make your garden hedgehog friendly. Hedgehogs are GREAT in the garden for getting rid of slugs and snails so you don't need to use pellets. You can also often get hedgehogs that have been rescued released in to your garden from local wildlife centres and would highly suggest it.
