Tori Amos in Newcastle

I hadn't seen Tori in a while, and was prepared for another odd and compelling show. This one didn't disappoint - it was a hot few days in Newcastle and no-one had thought to open the windows in the City Hall, making it a stifling atmosphere. On top of that, the heat seems to muffle the sound so everything ended up sounding quite murky, which wasn't a bad thing at times.
Tori has several pianos on stage and at one point her Fender Rhodes gaev up the ghost, leaving her singing a song about ordering Ice Cream in a cafe in Newcastle whilst the technicians tried in vain to fix it.
She's a great performer and on this tour decided to play local songs at each of her shows. In London she played some George Michael, I think. In Newcastle she played Fog on the Tyne (the crowd helped with the lyrics) and a Police cover too.
I definitely enjoyed the gig and I'd recommend anyone who has been to see her in large, boring venues to travel to some of the smaller or lesser known venues to get a different experience, too.
