I can't remember the date any closer than they year, but I know it was when the World Cup was on. I know that because Taj was kind enough to keep us updated with the football scores as the night went on.

That in itself tells the story of the gig - it was fairly empty due to an England match that night, but Taj seemed to be relaxed and treating the night let a rehearsal, in a good way.

I always find the Fairfield Halls a strange venue - to thnk that Croydon was meant to be the new London and bands like Delaney and Bonnie played venues like the Fairfield Halls just seems odd now.

Anyway, there were so many empty seats that my friends and I were able to take our picks of seats and we ended up with a great view and plenty of room. It's the only time I've seen Taj Mahal and I couldn't keep my feet still. It was strange gig though - in the pub beforehand I saw someone jump out of the window form the floor above. I think they were celebrating a goal. Croydon is like that, sometimes.
